The Albums Behind the Designs: Bachlava, Dolphins and Crocodiles

· My Story

A lot of our designs come straight from my albums and the worlds around them. Here's what's behind each one, so you know exactly what you're wearing.

What is Johann Sebastian Bachlava the Doctor?

Johann Sebastian Bachlava the Doctor came out on July 11, 2024, and it was self-released. Its music videos cast me as "Dr. Baklava". The design keeps it simple: the full title in heavy black block letters, on the front and again on the back.

Why are there dolphins?

Only for Dolphins came out on September 25, 2020, and I painted the cover myself; I took up painting in 2017. The two-sided design puts a tattoo-flash badge on the back, a snorkelling dolphin under a red-and-yellow sunset ringed by ONLY FOR DOLPHINS · PROTECT OUR OCEANS, and a deadpan RESEARCH AND RECOVERY TEAM on the front.

And the crocodile?

Cocodrillo Turbo came out on April 29, 2022. Cocodrillo is Italian for crocodile, and I painted the crocodile cover too. The album came with a short film, Spirit Crocodile. In the shop you'll find:

  • Cocodrillo Boots: a worn leather work boot above a big terracotta Cocodrillo.
  • Cocodrillo Wordmark: just the word, in clean light-grey capitals.
  • Turbo Fall 2022: a boxy old sedan under a yellow sky, with Turbo in coral.

What does BCU stand for?

In 2017, for Blue Chips 7000, I released a "BCU" team-apparel capsule with Packer Shoes and Starter, styled as a made-up college basketball team. The BCU / QUEENS, NY design borrows that varsity look.
